The Laws of Motivation - Pocket Reminders for Managers

For those who have that great responsibility in managing, leading and motivating others ..
let me ask you these two questions:

What sort of manager would you like to be  managed by?

And secondly:

Are you that sort of person?

These are two really pertinent and soul searching questions that every manager should ask themselves regularly, as they must build a foundation for the principles that will be conducive to a healthy
management style.

Here we will look at the laws of motivation. One could argue that they are principles rather than laws, but I prefer to use the word ‘laws’ because it implies that if you break them, you will receive a penalty.

With out long explanations, I present you the Laws, the pocket reminders.

1. We have to be motivated to motivate

2. Motivation requires a goal

3. Motivation, once established, never lasts

4. Motivation requires recognition

5. Participation motivates.

6. Seeing ourselves progress motivates us.

7. Challenge motivates only if you can win

8. Everybody has a motivational fuse. Managers need to know how to ignite it.

9. Belonging to a group motivates.

Malaysia - it is truely Asia - trip to port dickson

Its been almost a month arriving Malaysia and started living here. Though busy  in tight office schedules, could not able to resist myself taking long four day holiday for Ramjan.

Though there is no serious planning, my choice about "Port Dickson" is really a nice one !!

I think its referred as ‘PD’ by locals, a quiet coastal town is located just 32 km away from Seremban, 56 from melaka town and 80 km away from Kuala Lumpur.

Speciality is PD’s beaches are not confined to a single spot, but the whole length of the road that runs along the coastline to PD are potential beach-side relaxation areas.

The ride from Melaka city to PD is harldy 1 hour and 15 mins in Car and majorly via costal route which is very exiciting.

Its a great opportunity

I wonder myself, I took almost an year to post an another entry in my personal blog.
Ofcourse ..Lot of changes in life and encouraging opportunities.

Its been almost One year and 2 months, I have come to Switzerland and living here.

Living almost 20 km's away from France border,  learning french (peu de peu) with locals,  Living in nature (Le locle with all greenary around) while enjoying quite modern amenities .. Its a very beautiful experience.

It may be quite true that our emotions are at peak when we are about to leave a place with which we have fallen in love with.

It's a terrific experience in Switzerland ... living right here and understanding the culture and enjoying all beautiful places around is memorable. Zurich, Geneva, Nyon, Lausanne, Interlaken, Luzern, Mount Titlis, Jungfrau ... are still in my mind (ofcourse in camara too ).

Filled with lot of energy here, It feels that Life has so much to do with now..
Many more opportunities are on their way. Lot of ambitions to reach.
This is this motivation that is filling my heart now.

Complaint Cell - Good initiative from Govt of India

Government of India has following Online Grievance cell  http://darpg-grievance.nic.in/

Even though i have not used it directly, some of my friends have informed that its really working. The guy I'm talking about lives in Faridabad . Couple of months back, the Faridabad Municipal Corporation laid new roads in his area and the residents were very happy about it. But 2 weeks later, BSNL dug up the newly laid roads to install new cables which annoyed all the residents including this guy. But it was only this guy! Who used the above listed grievance forum to highlight his concern. And to his surprise, BSNL and Municipal Corporation of Faridabad were served a show cause notice and the guy received a copy of the notice in one week. Government has asked the MC and BSNL about the goof up as it's clear that both the government departments were not in sync at all.

So use this grievance forum and educate others who don't know about this facility. This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about the
'System ' in India.

How to control circumstances in Life

How to control circumstances in Life and how to enjoy every moment of it.

Every walk of life we encounter with several  choices. Some of these choices lead us to happy and joyful moments where as some lead us to tough situations. When things go wrong, many of us blame others for the events, situations and circumstances in life.

We are totally responsible for our own life. This is the foundation we must embrace if we want to enjoy and control circumstances.

People who take complete responsibility for their lives experience joy and control of circumstances. They are able to make choices because they understand that they are responsible for their choices. Indeed, even when events that are not under your control, go awry, you can, at least, determine how you will react to the event. You can make an event a disaster or you can use it as an opportunity to learn, to grow, to cherish your faith, to hold loved ones close.

How to Take Responsibility for Your Life
The most important aspect of taking responsibility for your life is to acknowledge that your life is your responsibility. No one can live your life for you. You are in charge. No matter how hard you try to blame others for the events of your life, each event is the result of choices you made and are making. Listen to the little voice in your head. And, observe yourself talking with coworkers, family members, and friends. Do you hear yourself taking responsibility or placing blame?

Listen to the voice in your head. Eliminate blame; eliminate excuses. If the blame track or the excuse track plays repeatedly in your mind, you are shifting responsibility for your decisions and life to others.

Second, listen to yourself when you speak. In your conversation, do you hear yourself blame others for things that don’t go exactly as you want? Do you find yourself pointing fingers at your coworkers or your upbringing, your parent’s influence, the amount of money that you make, or your spouse? Are you making excuses for goals unmet or tasks that missed their deadlines? If you can hear your blaming patterns, you can stop them.

Third, if an individual you respect supplies feedback
that you make excuses and blame others for your woes, take the feedback seriously. Control your defensive reaction and explore examples and deepen your understanding with the coworker or friend. People who responsibly consider feedback attract much more feedback.

Be responsible and see wonders happening in your life
